98 LS1/T56 into 76 Trans Am
Picked this up for $3K. 145K mileage. Runs great except it has a busted steering rack which won't effect my swap at all. Came with some nice parts that I can sell or move to my other projects/ recoup funds with as well: Borla catback, some rims I flipped, and other misc parts. Great deal IMO, couldn't believe it and I've never seen any T56 ls1 fbodies go that cheap, especially in pretty solid shape like this one.
I removed everything that I need out of for my 2nd gen swap--- pcm, wiring harness, 6 speed console, shifter, pedals, drivetrain, fans, radiator, etc. Sold left over parts, and the clean-title roller for 2K. Overall, i'm in the green with what I removed.
Here's the victim:
And here is the recipient.. My 1976 Trans Am. (Swapped to 70-73 nose, by the way)
400 Pontiac Car. Previous owner for some reason swapped in a carbed Chevy 350 out of a late 70's K-10 Pick Up attached to a TH350. It is a hog, not powerful, and pretty darn tame with this current engine set up.
I ended up selling this beat drivetrain that came with the car for $900 on craigslist.
Dirty Dingo LS engine mounts
98 carnage, dropping out the donor drivetrain
and going into the 76! Doing this all in my cramped garage so that's making it fun.
another shot with MY 98 Firebird in view
c5 covers for flair. may keep and turn them into PONTIAC ones ;D
Detroit Speed Master cylinder bracket (car was an auto previously)
clearance of exhaust manifolds... fit nicely..
modded factory th350 crossmember to fit the T56
shot of the BMR shifter, new seats, and new door panels
still unsure about using the 4th gen console. what do you guys think?
Will post updates as it keeps moving along. Soon I have to tackle the tuning (i.e. removing emissions, VATS), wiring, and fuel system. Thanks for looking!

Looking good. You've come a long way already. I'd vote no on the console since the rest of the interior is original looking. If you were doing custom door panels, seats and dash it would be cool. But by itself it looks out of place.
