2nd gen 5.3 swap
okay ive been looking all day long on how to do this but anyways im buying my buddy's 2001 chevy 1500 with the 5.3 not sure what trans but its either 4L60E or 4L80E and im only paying 500.00 for the entire truck. so id like to swap everything over to my 1981 Camaro but I know its going to take work just need to know what all ill need for a/c and everything to work with fuel injection and gauges ive heard the oil pan needs to be changed and some other stuff but I really need to know how to do this what all I need to change and such

you have the 4L60E tranny, dont cut wiring you can use it by modifying it using LT1Swap.com info. Time consuming but free if you do it. He also reprogram pcm for you. Ac just get new bracket from holley thats puts it on pass head. Not cheap but works well. Dont use oil pan called Gm Muscle car pan. It hangs lower than crossmember. Can use f-body pan modified or holley pan. Gas pedal cable will work from truck. Truck brackets and intake will fit under hood. Change steering pulley out with a dorman 300-130 wont clear steering box if dont. I used adaptor plates with sbc motor shells on my skylark. When put down i had to move frame mounts as plates thru off width of motor mount bolts to go thru. Also had to space motor to clear inner tie rods to turn all the way hit oil pan. Hope this helps.

okay i'm getting closer to swap day im almost done with building the engine and collecting parts so far ive bought -6an hose for fuel lines and delphi pump for a 2000 camaro along with a radiator for 2000 camaro (built in trans cooler) vettworks fuel pump adapter an ls1 oil pan modified the harness and the car shop motor mounts. what else am i missing such as has anyone used the factory 2nd gen gauges with this swap. i also heard there was some kind of shifter mod i needed to do ??? for the 4l60e to swap into the car?
