Swap Picture Needed
Car needed 78-81 Camaro.
Clearance at the firewall.
I ran across one article where the person doing his swap said the 1" setback put the LS almost touching the firewall, but allowed for the TH350 to be in the stock location. The article said a zero setback would be better, but forces cross member moving and a new driveshaft.
This was the first complaint I had heard about clearance issues.
I found a good picture of a 67, looked to have nearly 2-3 inches.
Lots of pictures with the right year, but nine showing firewall clearance.
Thanks for the help.
Also, putting the engine too close to the firewall means the MAP sensor port may need to get cut off the intake manifold to fit. At least it did in my Mustang, the Elco firewall is obviously different.
Since the ls swap, I changed over to a t56 with the Holley/Hooker conversion trans mount. Things fit very well, but I did have to cut the tunnel a bit to clear the back of the trans and covered the resulting hole with a manual shifter trans tunnel weld-on plate from Year One.

Now the Hooker set is where I use my clamshell mount that came with the car?
Thanks again. That was what I wanted to see.
