Question LS1 in '95 C/K??

I have a 350 powered 1995 Silverado with over 100,000 miles and it's time to get rid of that tired engine (200hp when new). I would like to drop in an LS1 for a fun driving vehicle. Anyone try this yet? Any suggestions?

It could be done, but an LT1 would be a much easier swap. Would pretty much bolt right in.

GMchasls1 or something like that in the truck forum did this and the truck runs high 13's on street tires.

You might also want to check in over at LS1Truck.com. There are a few older trucks with LS1 transplants.

I just did an LS1/4L60E (99 camaro Z28 325 horse) in a 1990 454SS. Pretty much a bolt in except accessory drive. We used a Street & Performance complete drive conversion. S & P Harness, G-body headers, & some other misc S & P parts. Needed longer driveshaft. Crossmember was simple mod. Even used the stock column shift linkage. The swap was pretty straight forward. Used stock Camaro oil pan. Stock 454 motor mounts with S & P plates.

This is not a plug for S & P, just who we contacted for parts. I wasn't thrilled with their cust svc, though. They always had parts backordered when we needed something. Prices are very high (in my opinion).

This truck went 14.51@94 mph in 1/4 on a 96 degree day. My own truck was 1/2 second slow on this day. I think with reprogramming 2-3 shift, & better temp it wil go high 13s.

This truck is driven everyday & is a blast to drive. It's got Baer 13.5" fr & 13" rr and Air Ride Technologies full kit.

Default stock tranny match up?

SixSpeedSS,
Could a stock 4L60-E from a 1995 C/K 1500 match up and work with the LS1 swap?

I just got done doing a 5.3 conversion in a 1994 4x4 chevy. All I really had to do was change motor mounts, and fuel pump, I should have had a redone harness instead of doing it my self but I will know for next time.
