Do you have a build thread somewhere on this? i've been wanting to see what all is involved beyond a miata swap. I spoke with flyin miata a year or so ago and they were just starting an LSA exocet build. They mentioned that it was motor and trans fitment was more challenging than in a regular miata swap.

Car looks awesome. I bet it is an absolute blast to drive. Hows traction?

Traction is lol with street tires, it's not bad with 275 hoosiers. Once youre at speed there are no traction issues, since the wing makes metric tons of downforce.

so awesome.
How much do you have in the project, if you don't mind me asking?
Any costly or real PIA obstacles you had to overcome?
Also was wondering why you went with the race chassis over the sport chassis? Just for the extra strength or do you plan on racing or aesthetics?

Race over sport for any handful of reasons. Easy windshield, much stiffer since its triangulated into its own roll structure, marginally safer, and much easier to see. Feel a little more confident going down the road next to a surburban, lol.

The other thing is the sport isn't NASA/FIA certified as it wont pass a broomstick test, and you can't put it on a real racetrack.

Imagine i have around 30k in the car, no big obstacles - just a lot of work.

did not realize it wouldn't pass the broomstick test, that sucks. I mean whats the point of the base and sport chassis then? Thats kind of nuts to have an exocet be basically a street/autocross only car. You can't even do track days if you can't pass a broom stick test, right?
Its a killer build, well worth the money IMO. I don't really know of anything else that has that performance potential for that amount of money. I was looking at your build thread that you posted and i now realize is right in your signature... that it only took you 5 months to build it? I didn't read the whole thread, so many pages. How often did you work on it to get it done in that time frame?

Took well less then 5 months. Chassis arrived at door Aug 30, first start was Oct 22, first race track visit was Nov 1. That's just working in free time and on weekends here and there, but I've also built many things. Maybe 120 hours or so total if I had to guess. Could do it again in less. I'm at the point now where i'm just polishing up things, making the harness pretty, working on street legal stuff (lights, signals, etc). You could build one a lot cheaper, or a LOT more expensive. Just depends on how crazy you want to go, really.

Info on chassis vendor? I'm getting an itch to "build" something to autocross...V8 Miata, LS swapped C3 or something like this.

I can't wait for the spring so that some track times can be made.... plus a couple drag strip passes for good measure! Congrats on making it street legal.

Thats an impressive schedule on an awesome build. congrats on the plate. what speed does that wing start making downforce? Can't wait to see how it performs in the spring!

It starts around 35 with the big endplates, 50 with the small ones. After 60mph it sticks like glue. 100mph you can pretty much go WOT in a turn and not break the *** loose. It's a weird feeling, I still don't trust it fully
