First gen f-body ls1 ECU mounting locations
So I'm in the middle of doing my harness, but I can't decide where to mount the ECU. I initially thought inside under the dash, but since I still have the factory heater/ducting/blower, I'd have to lose the glovebox which I would prefer not to do. I was planning to mount it to the firewall under the drivers side fender, but it looks like it might be a tight fit.
Any other location thoughts? Where did you mount yours in your first gen swap?
Thanks,
Rob

Don't have any answers but I'm in for info and pics. Need to figure out where to put mine in my 68. I've got 4 ft of wiring from the rear ps so I was leaning towards the firewall in front of the console but who knows.

I'm not sure of the ECU size, it's one of the red and blue connector variant from a 2000 z28.
I think at this point, I might just extend the whole harness and move the ecu to the passenger side front inner fender. Looks like it will be hidden with the battery installed, yet still very accessible.
Thanks,
Rob

I mounted mine on the radiator support where the battery used to be and moved the battery to the trunk. The side benefit of this was I was able to run my air intake filter inside the passenger side fenderwell.
I have Vintage Air so I had no room under my dash. I used a PSI harness and was just short of being able to run the wiring harness inside the inner fender, so that is why all my wiring is exposed in the engine compartment. These pictures were taken while I was still wiring , and I have everything loomed up and tied up now.
