Default 67 Chevelle, best fitting trans for LS???

Thinking about installing a 6.0 LS engine but which trans fits the tunnel better? 4L80E or 4L60E? 6L80E?

Manual 5 or 6 speed out of donor car???

New one piece floor and trunk pan just installed, would prefer not to cut but upen to it if i know where and how much gets cut

Plan on using oem BB frame mounts and engine mount with DD sliders when i get to that point.

Any suggestions, info, pics appreciated.

The 4l80 is big and the 6l80 is HUGE, with some minor mods to the tunnel the 4l80 might work for you, the 6l80--- get out the cutoff wheel

Yep thats what i thought.

Lots of option i just want to get the right parts the first time.

My 4L60 barely fits, A 80 would need major surgery.

4L60E would be the best fit. The others are much larger. The T56 is also very large and requires cutting the tunnel up.

I got a line on a low mileage LS 6.0 and 4L60E combo from a Silverado.

Going to look at it tonight, anything to look for? Best head numbers or all the same?

The 6.0 came with a 4L80 stock so either it's not a 6.0 or it's a 4L80.

What series Silverado? The HD trucks came with the 4L80E. But some of the performance Silverado's with the 6.0 came with a 4l65e.

1999-early 2001 6.0s had iron heads. Check the fron of the passenger-side head (pic for reference) or rear of the driver's for a "317" casting number, which are the aluminum heads. If it is indeed mated to a 4L80e (which should be stamped on the trans; the '80e also has two speed sensors, while the '60e only has one), the crankshaft likely (though not certainly) has a ~.500" flange (reference), which limits transmission options.

Silverado 2500s came with the 4L80e; starting in ~2004, 1500s with the 6.0 received the 4L60e. If it's indeed a 6.0L/4L60e, it should have an ECU with blue/green connectors and I believe would be drive-by-wire.

I initially put a 4L80e in my Nova without major modification before swapping to a T56, which was a major, but immensely satisfying, undertaking.

I found our he bought the 6.0 and the trans from same place but requested the 4L60e.

2005 Silverado 6.0, im betting a LQ4. 22k miles

All acc, stainless headers, edelbrock single plane carb intake.

He wants $2000 for both

Only thing i dont like is that he painted the block and heads black. How can i get the paint off the heads without tarnishing the aluminum?
