Good luck with the swap!!!
Also I'd get rid of those rusty old spoke wheels. They can be dangerous with loose spokes, leak air around the spokes, don't want to balance, etc. I've also heard that with a ton of power and a hard launch, they will self destruct, ie all the torque will break the spokes. Probably an old wives tail though.

Ha ha, yeah I am looking at a few wheel options. One already fell through. BMW X5 wheels look nice, and I think would compliment the car, but I have to machine out the hub bore to 74.1mm if I buy them. Not a big deal, just another step to consider.

Years ago I used to auto-x with a guy who had a late '90s XJR, and a couple of E-types. One of the E-types was set up as a racer (for auto-x, track events, TSD rallies, that sort of thing), and he had the XJR wheels on it. Looked fantastic. They were this style:
Not sure how easy it would be to find those, or replicas of them. Pretty sure they're only 17"s, so not too big. (I like the look of modern wheels on an older car, but I don't like it if they're too big.)

If you want to clean up the truck engine, I would look into using the Holley alternator/PS bracket. You can reuse the truck alternator with it and swap over to the C6 Corvette PS pump. Holley offers spacer kits that will put the alternator in line with the truck balancer, but I prefer swapping to a Corvette balancer and keeping things close to the block. You can find used, low mileage Corvette balancers cheap. I'd also swap over to the Corvette water pump.
For the intake, I would find a used LS2 intake with rails and injectors. The truck TB will bolt to the LS2 intake, with the advantage being much lower profile than the truck intake.
You can also throw some Holley valve covers on it and mount the coils directly to them, which further cleans things up.
Just food for thought.

Just ran across this ad for the balancer and the water pump that I mentioned:

It is very heavy car, but with the engine swap, I'm guessing it will dress out about 3700lbs. It's heavy, but not anymore than a gto. I don't think the rear will take much more than the NA 4.8 with the ls7 cam will give it.

Well, I tore the engine down a little farther, it install the Valve springs. I attempted to break the crank pulley loose, but I had no torch available to heat it up, and even with an extra person I failed to get it loose. So the cam change will have to wait until the weekend. I will probably buy new pushrods and timing chain at the same time as well.
Does anyone know if it matters what 3 bolt cam gear I put on the ls7 cam? I'm not even positive the ly2 engine is a single bolt...
Besides that, the engine looks damn clean for 121k miles!

I think you need to check this, but if my memory is right (tech for Jag dealer 87 - 90) the center section on XJS was a Dana 60 and most has a posi

From what I have read, it is VERY close to a Dana 60, and you can swap a Dana 60 into it. I was reading about how lots of people go that route.
But I'll look into it more when I get some time.

Finally! I got a few minutes to start messing with the engine again. Man I hate the Crank Bolt!!! Came right off last night after I heated it up with a torch.
After getting everything off, I pulled out the stock cam, and I get to replace the cam bearings.... The top of the front cam bearing looks like it was bead blasted, and has some weird black marring marks on it. Odd....
So I will have to order some new bearings, and I still haven't bought the 4X 3 bolt came gear yet either. Hopefully I will have some more updates soon, and I may even throw in some pictures of my next project, my brother in law's 70 chevelle! Going 6.0, my style (cheap).
