Default project ghetto cruser

so i sold my foxbody mustang and bought a 1986 monte Carlo ss i figure i could in theory find a junkyard 5.3 with harness get some motor mounts an areomotive fuel pump drop it in there use the stock transmission then drive it as is till i get the funds to slowly but surely upgrade everything

Sorry to hear ya sold the Mustang. There are quite a few Gbody swaps on here. GLWS

thanks man i figure it would be cheaper in the long run to use the monte ya the Foxbody is a great platform but i had to replace everything at one time with the fox where as the monte i dont have to replace the k member

Do you have experience with a few LS swaps, if so, it seems pretty straight forward, although, I would choose a 4L60e right from the start instead of wasting the extra money on parts to make a TH350 work...

ive seen a couple of videos and have done a bit of searching if that counts but like i said im going to try upgrading as time goes on because im on a low budget of 2k at the moment

i figure engine is going to set me back $500

cables $150

harness $500

fuel pump $250ish

reflashed ecu $300

mounts $100

as for exhaust im going to run open headers

shouldn't you be able to bolt up the 200R4, 700R7, or th350 with just a flywheel spacer??


A DIY harness isn't that tough, and if you go to a pull your own yard, you should be able to get the engine, harness, and ecu for around $500

I think there are some issues with the torque converter bolt pattern...

There are, I just had a machine shop drill some new holes for me but these days I think at least one place is making a flywheel that will work.
