Default Power steering pump question

Do I need to make any changes to the pump pressure if using an 04GTO LS1 steering pump with a stock power steering gearbox in a 69 chevelle? I saw lots of posts about adjusting pump pressure for different rack and pinions, but haven't been able to find anything on using newer pump with old gearbox. Not sure where to find the OEM SBC pump pressure.

didn't the gto come with a rack and pinion? iirc those run at about 800-1000 psi which ought to play nice with the older boxes.

most folks are having to bump it down with the borgeson kit because they are using the truck pumps (1200+ psi)

my flaming river box likes about 900-1000 psi according to the maker, so I had to bump it down with the borgeson kit

It won't be too much pressure or volume for the '69 box, so I would just try it and see how you like it. It will most likely be fine, and if it isn't, just change it when you know for sure it isn't right.

I have a 2006 GTO ls2 in my 66 GTO and the steering is fine, I eventually upgraded to the Jeep Grand Cherokee steering box and it feels fine, the Jeep Grand Cherokee box was a nice improvement.

+1 on the Jeep box. Huge improvement and makes for metric hoses that are easily bought in any auto parts store.
