Default 1989 944 LM7 Build

Hey guys! I just recently purchased a manual 1989 944 NA roller along with what I believe to be an LM7. Its a 5.3L Vortec out of a 2001 Suburban with 706 heads. I plan on getting the conversion kit from TPC. My power goal is around 400 at the crank but reaching it isn't important. I want to do this buying the least number of parts possible. I won't cheap out on parts, but i'm only going to get what's absolutely necessary. I want this to be the bare minimum for putting an LS based motor in a 944 while keeping all accessories, aside from the cam and whatever i need to support that. I have to swap the intake manifold for hood clearance. I will keep an accurate list of everything need with prices before shipping/tax.

1989 Porsche 944 Roller = 650.00

Engine - LM7? 5.3L 706 Heads = 500.00 Complete, no starter
- LS6 Intake Manifold W/ Fuel Rail and Injectors = 400.00ish Used
- COMP CAM (haven't decided which one) = 400.00 New
- TPC Deluxe Conversion Kit = 2600.00 New
- F-body Accessories Swap = 807.00 New
- Starter = 75.00 New
- Custom Wiring harness = 450.00+ from Renegade

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't put any time into updating this thread. Since I've posted I disassembled the engine and took the block, crank, piston and rods to the machine shop. I found out that I needed a fresh bore, scratches were too deep for a hone. I opted to have them bore it out to a 3.898 (LS1 spec for those that don't know) and I picked up a set of Mahle Powerpak pistons and rings, they modified the pistons so I don't have to have them pressed in when I'm ready for assembly. Also had the line bore checked, that was all good. Had the rotating assembly balanced. They also installed new cam bearings. It's all back from the machine shop now.

I'm torn weather or not to keep my 706 castings or get some 243/799 castings. I already have the parts so either way I'm rebuilding them. I just need to get valves, which is why I still have the option for the 243/799 castings.

I'm going to take some pictures of everything I got and update my original post with some more info and part numbers as well. I'll have that up later in the day. I didn't originally plan on doing this much work to the motor but my plans changed once I heard about the cylinder walls. I'm still going to keep it organized separating what's necessary aside from all the aftermarket stuff.
