LS1/6-Speed In 69 Camaro (Crossmember)
I'm in the process of installing the above combination and would like to ask those of you who are ahead of me a couple of questions:
1) I have a Turbo 400 crossmember and have been told that with a little modification it will work on this 6-speed trans. Has anyone used this combination before? If so what modifications did you make?
2) Should I use the stock LS1 motor mount(single bolt) or should I convert to a standard two bolt mount.....that is if they make one that will bolt to the T-56. How about urathane mounts?
Thanks in advance for your response!
I'm attaching a couple of pictures of my project:

Cool project vehicle! How will that intake tube dual-cone setup work without a MAF?
You can modify the 400 crossmember, probably have to notch it and weld in a new tranny mount flange. Once you get the engine/tranny into the car, then you will be able to take measurements on how that crossmember needs to be modified. With the T56 there is only a single bolt hole required to bolt the tranny mount to the cross member.
Engine mounts, I went with the BRP type, which convert the LS1 engine mounts to bolt directly to the factory '69 small block chevy engine pedestals on the K-member.

Thanks for information! The dual filter set up is in mock up stage only and does not have the MAS installed as you observed. I plan on using a late model LS1 radiator and electric fans. Hopefully, I have room for all components when everything is in place.
By the way, great looking car! Can you tell a little about your instrumentation that you installed? I plan on using Auto Meter Lite guages in a Covan brushed aluminum looking dash. I've ordered the S&P oil sending unit mount. Did you have any issues with hooking up the guages?

NineBall could u give me measurements on what you cut out of your tranny tunnel for the t56 or an idea of how muhc to cut out. and how difficutl was it to remove the front body panels and put back together (how long would you say it took)?
Thanks
Kyle
Thanks
