Default Crank sensor bolts

Any old bolt or are they special in some way? Didn't get these bolts with my pull out.

Thanks,

Joe

They're short - shorter than any of the other LS bolts. Only 13mm long, IIRC. There's only one BTW...

M8x1.25x20mm. U can use any old bolt but I like to stick to a grade 10.9 flange head bolt.

Odd... Mine must not have been tapped deep enough cause that length bolt left 1/8" of slack when bottomed out. You could always stack a couple washers on it, though. Yet another reason to test-fit every part before final assembly...

Thanks guys, obviously I meant knock sensor bolts.....

I've probably got a couple flange head bolts that will work.

Does the mounting surface need to be bare metal? I painted the block.

That hole should b drilled 22 mm deep and threaded 20mm as per a service manual I have on an lq4 block. I actually bought a button head bolt at 20mm and fits fine. Maybe it's a Lil different length from block to block or alum to iron block?

Info on this is relatively difficult to come by. I found this blurb on page 121 in "Building_the_Chevy_LS_Engine_-_Rebuilding,_Performance_Mods_-_M._Mavrigian_(HPBooks,_2010)_BBS.pdf" which is available on the 'net:

Code:
Crank Position Sensor
The crank position sensor (GM P/N 12560228)
installs into the block's right side, in line with the
reluctor wheel. Lube the sensor's O-ring lightly with
oil and insert until seated. The sensor's bracket tab is
then secured with an 8mm x 1.25 x 10–15mm bolt
(this is a blind hole, and the bolt will bottom out at
a depth of about 19mm).
Apparently, I have one of these blocks (L92)...

Unless, of course, he's dealing with a 2006+ block.

'06 LS2.....

Sorry for the confusion on the "crank sensor" title. Don't know how to edit that.

Again, talking knock sensor.
