Default 5.3 Cam Choice

So I'm possibly picking up a z28 roller this weekend that comes with a complete 5.3 motor. I know about the alternator and oil pan needing addressed, but I figured if I was going to have a motor out of the car, I might as well put a cam in while it's out. I'm looking to do a cam only build, so I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction for a cam. I'm not looking for an over the top cam, just something to yield some reasonable results. I don't know much about the market for these cams, as I've been in the 3800 scene since I've been able to drive and cam options for those are lacking compared to the selection I've seen for these cars. Thanks in advance!

Used Z06 5308 cam and springs are a good budget choice, many better choices if you want to spend more.Have a good look at the center cam bearings while you are in there, they tend to walk out of their bore and get clipped by the lifters, causing a drastic loss in oil pressure.

Unless you have a free Z06 cam laying around, its not really worth the effort since a bigger cam takes the exact same amount of time to install. Spend the extra couple hundred bucks and get an aftermarket cam.

There are probably 5000 cam options for the LS motors. You haven't really said what 'reasonable' results are, how you want it to drive, idle, where you want it to peak, what the car will be used for, fuel economy, etc.

I would like something that drives similar to a stock cam, it will be my daily in the summer. As for idle, something with some decent lope, not looking for crazy lope. As far as peak goes, not really sure. It'll be my daily and I'd like fuel economy to remain somewhat the same. Basically an all around moderate cam that's great for streeting, lower end power, and can add enough power to make it not so much of a dog considering it'll have more weight and less power with the 5.3. That's about the best I can do lol. This stuff is a learning experience for me, as I'm still figuring out the F body platform.
