Default New guy here, got ??

My brother owns a 2006 chevy half ton reg cab short bed 4.3 v6, 5spd. I guess its considered the w/t model. He was asking around how he could really give it some horsepower, without going too nuts with $. I told him I really have no idea. Bigger engine, more horsepower?? Told him Id ask you guys. He mentioned looking for an LS motor. Something that had come out of a Denali? IDK. Im sure there are many options. We have a co worker that will def do the work. He just doesn't care to suggest what should be done. He's $20hr. So any ideas from the gear heads here? I know budget needs to be known. He never mentioned. So lets say 10k? Oh yeh current drive train has no issues, and 145k miles. Is it likely he could sell whatever comes out? I guess he caught my interest as I think it would be fun to watch them put something together. Is this a bad base to start with? Thanks all.

Just my opinion, but it seems easier and way cheaper to just buy another truck that has a V8 already. To put 10k into a 2006 Silverado and have it be worth around half that just doesnt add up to me. But again, just my opinion.

Where are you located? I charge a lot less than $20/hour.

In all honesty, it would probably be easier to sell the truck and buy a V8 one. The cost difference between selling the current one and buying a V8 is going to be less than the price of a 6.0/6.2 swap into the current truck.
