S10 with 5.3 t56 and 8.8 rearend
Im putting a 5.3/t56 in a 1995 extended cab s10 wondering what to do for driveshaft; length, one piece or two, yokes, u-joints, material type, and any info on t56 to ford explorer 8.8 rearend. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

I'd get the motor and trans in then take some measurements and call up a driveshaft shop.. should be able to do a 1pc with no problems. A stock fbody trans yoke uses a GM 3r joint, and the Ford 8.8 large (as opposed to the small type) flange on the differential uses a 1330 joint. That being said you can get aftermarket yokes that use the larger 1350 joints as well.. A driveshaft shop will build you whatever you want or need.

I had to cut my driveshaft to make it fit. The link below has some useful information. There's a guy on s10forum.com that makes an adapter so you can use your stock e-brake cables. His user name is hi Im Sean.

D-shaft
If your located in Milw. There is a driveshaft shop on the Northside fairly close to Miller Park. He built my shaft on an 03 Ext Cab S-10 that runs a 4l60. Eliminates the rear CV joints and makes the truck run smoother down the road. I'm over by Lake WI. He had the shaft ready by the time I got there (1.5 hour drive time). Sells on ebay.
