Steam Vent Conflict -

I purchased a Steam Vent kit for my LS3 . Turns out that it really isn't suited for the LS3.
As you will see in the picture below, the plastic tube that connects a port from the manifold to the engine runs right over the vent on the passenger side.
I think I can make it work if I run just a rubber hose in place of the OEM plastic hose. Anyone see a problem with that? Or is that port pressurized, which might blow of a non-barbed rubber hose?

If I end up unable to use that, I will need to purchase a new OEM steam vent crossover and just use that. I'll put a WTB in the For Sale area in that case.

Yes it is pressurized so you need to get the appropriate rubber hose. I use a small section of rubber hose to connect the stock "coolant bypass tubes" to a fitting I tapped in the water pump.

OK. I have it figured out.
Why change? Well, in retrospect, there was no need. When I built my LS1, I needed to make a change. At that time I followed some suggestions I found back then (2005), which was to run it to my water pump. I think that actually causes some problems. I've seen reference to that making the engine run cold, and in fact mine does.
So while preparing for what all I need to do for the LS3 install in my 61, I had recently run across the article about this kit. On Jegs, they sell the kit also with a radiator hose adapter to use with the kit-> here.. It seems that putting it there, or at the radiator, is the currently suggested method.
So, I purchased that kit.
But, I could just have easily taken it from the OEM/original steam vent aparatis. In fact, as I started on this, I looked at that and thought "I should probably use the original".
Why was it bad? I took a lazy route (most often not a good thing) and cut the original to take it off, to save pulling the intake. So, it can't be used.
All that answered, I have swapped sides for the vent connectors, and am going to be able to make it work.

And after all that, looking at the above picture, I realize I need to pull the intake and clean it out.
Thanks, everybody, for the input.
