LS3 in 82 Volvo 242
Not exactly LS content - but I broke down and replaced my pitted 38 year old windshield. Used guitar string to cut the butyl, piece of 90 degree wood trim cut at a 45 degree angle to scoop infinite amounts of butyl out of the channel, cleaned pinch weld back to fresh/shiny paint, new "blocks", butyl primer and 3M Window Weld, replaced the new windshield trim with much wider universal trim to cover my paint line -- presto -- cataracts gone.

Old one out....

Full of butyl

Scoop it out

Clean remnants with duct tape and goo gone

If you have a pro you trust - pay to have it done. I pretty much got turned down by 2 mom/pop outfits and 2 national chains. They didn’t refuse the work per se, but their reasons for not being able to accommodate me were code for “we can nake a lot more money replacing soccer mom minivan windshields than we can by screwing around with your old butyl crap”. So I ordered on from windshieldstogo.com, found my trim/seal/butyl primer on line and DIY’d the sucker.
In the spirit of unique trophies - a local high school close by had their first annual car show today put on by the kids in the auto shop classes. They were raising money for their upcoming 24 Hours of Lemons project - they're racing a Merkur XR4ti. The kids judged the show and they made all the trophies by welding together bits of engine parts, bearings, etc. Pretty cool. They voted the Volvo Best Engine, Best European - Modified, and Best Engineered. If I'd been in an accident on the way home, the shrapnel could have taken my head off! Great fun for a good cause. Not that it matters much - from left to right below - Best modded Euro car, best engineered and best engine.

Hi Micheal ,im currently doing an LS to a Ford T5 from one of my past foxbodys..I got the QuickTime bell, longer fork, a flywheel and pressure plate from an LS1 could you tell me what worked for you for a clutch?
I bought an entire Mcleod set up - aluminum flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate. The clutch disc simply has to work with 1) the diameter of the pressure plate you use and 2) has to be for the 10-spline input shaft of the T5. I used a Mustang 5.0L throwout bearing and the T5 to LS pilot bearing from Speedway Motors. Check to be sure the LS1 fly and press plate will fit inside that 6037 QT bell. The tech folks at QT can help guide you. Good luck!
