Porsche 997 C4S LS Swap

Question and thoughts on BBK SSI intake and 80mm throttle body?
So I have been holding off for Dorman to release their LS2 intake with LS6 runners but date keeps getting pushed out and Im getting impatient and want an intake soon. I came across a member on the Corvette forums that is selling a complete BBK SSI intake with TB and injectors for a great price. My question is do you guys think our 911 swaps suffer more or less from heat soak? BBK SSI is aluminum and I know flows better than an LS6 but I will lose 10mm in throttle body size with this setup.
I am also thinking that since the BBK is aluminum I might be able to cutoff 1~2" on the inlet and bring my throttle body back for better clearance.
My other option is to hold off for a Fast 92 which do not sell cheap and something that you don't want to take a saw to.
decisions...decisions... You LS3 guys have it easy..

You have to think about the limited vertical space above the intake. with my stock LS2 intake, I only have about 1" of clearance in the middle of the intake to the body. some of these aftermarket intakes are taller than the stock ones.

Have you looked at the Procomp LS1 intakes? Jason at Alper Motorsports just ported one and up sized the TB to a 102mm on a 383 stroker. It ran really well and he would sell that intake to you un-ported pretty cheap. I will be running one on my next engine that I am currently pooling parts for, 5.3 L33 block bored to 5.7 with forged pistons and "H" beam forged rods, big *** cam and ported heads.

I had one of the Typhoon intakes back in the day. 102mm is beyond what my head, cam and little 5.7 engine needs not to mention the cost on 102mm DBW throttle bodies are crazy expensive. Is your next engine going in a 911?
The difference of 10mm or even 20mm in the throttle body is not going to account for much if I choke off the air intake due to limited clearance. With my setup being AWD I will not have the option of flipping or cutting trans mount to gain 1~2".
These are the challenges of being the 1st 997 swap or at least the 1st to post and tell about it. Hopefully will have my engine adapter by this weekend so I can setup in the car and see how much space I am really dealing with.

I have a fast 92 on mine it is slightly taller than a ls6 intake. I tried to fit a fast 102 with no luck. its much taller. Maybe you have more room in a 997? The ls 911s def do have some heat soak problems. When i first did the swap i had some crazy high intake temps. I had to move some stuff around and cut alot more of the trunk to get more air in there. Personally idk if i would go with a metal intake

Was beginning to think I was the only 997 AWD to attempt this swap till i came across this site and shop in the UK. Going to reachout to them to see if they are on the forums andw would love to see how they did their engine brackets from the bottom side using the factory mounts.

Well still haven't received my engine adapter and growing inpatient every day so decided to put some of my frustration to work and move ahead with the electrical. Car was equipped with a Bose system and rear subwoofer which I decided to sacrifice and remove the speakers from the rear shelf. Worked out perfectly and plenty of room for the GM PCM and relay box.
Now time to decide which side I want to run the harness wires. I kept the Porsche wiring for the sensors on the passenger side and thinking to route the harness on the opposite side.

I put both of mine out the Passenger side, but that is because that is the only side where I have room. Your plan should work great to run the GM harness on the Drivers side and the Porsche harness on the passenger side.

Cool. Looks good.
How much was the kit? Feel free to PM, if you prefer, but don't want to post. And forgive me if that info is private.
Are you fabbing your own motor mounts?
Oooops - I see you are using using the renegade mount.

Holly **** it's in "kinda"... did a fitment test tonight while waiting for my Fast92, yea I went big with the intake and less concerned about the height than I am with how far back the engine is sitting. Not sure if this is due to the G97 and AWD or my adapter thickness. Looking at other 996 swaps it appears mine sits back 1-2" further. My Fast 92 arrives Friday so I can adjust my height before starting on the engine mounts but figured I would share these pictures with the forums and further think this out. Still manageable but was hoping I would have been left with more room.
