Obd2 scan tool suggestions
do a search on Amazon for "OBD2 Bluetooth adapter" -- there are a couple that are literally blue in color that sell for around 13 bucks. I use one of those, combined with the "Torque 2" app for android (which I think cost me $5). This will do the trick unless you need to get really in-depth with auto-maker specific diags. Audi comes to mind, with regard to being a complex pain in the butt.
I've also got an ELM327. Get blue tooth for droid, or wifi for apple. I have an iphone, so I use obdfusion, which functions pretty good as a scan tool. I really liked forscan, but it's only for Ford's and Mazda.

Scan tool I also have a cheap Android pan with an Elm327. Worked fine for a while and all of a sudden it no longer will link. As I understand it this is the biggest complaint with the wireless scans.
