Awesome build man! I have a ls1 chevette also. That makes maybe 4 ls chevettes total that I know of. Good idea on the bracing for your rear control arm. Basically have to build frames in these things for your suspension mount points. Here is a quick vid of mine with bent valves! It does 4th gear burnouts with a 228r cam and new valves

Doesn't seem like much right now but it all adds up in the end.

Pulled 12 lbs from the front bumper the other night. I'll be fiddling through the winter finding other ways to shed a few more lbs.

Id highly recommend a suction cup windshield phone mount. The "shove it up inside the dash cluster" method isn't working very well. LOL. Very cool build. I bet it will really surprise some guys on the street.

The phone was a spur of the moment thing to see if the camera would pick up the speed. It did a little but by time it made it to YouTube the quality was lost. The pull when the phone fell was a 33-80 mph pull. I don't have much to compare it to but it feels like it gets there pretty decent.

This didn't start as a build thread but here's a quick rundown on how I got here.

Nice job with the Chevette. Here's some pics of one I built a few years ago. I'm looking to build another with a LS in it.

That's a clean looking Chevette sbauerz28. Looks like a healthy engine. Any HP numbers or 1/4 mile times?

I'm hoping next month I'll have some wheel HP numbers for my car. Still a long winter away from the track opening back up for me. Those online 1/4 mile calculators are just estimates but the numbers are all over the place from one to another.

Here's the numbers for my car with the stock engine. Next season I'll start upgrading after I get a couple passes with the stock HP.

Thanks again for all your help Joe

That pass. side manifold is about at a 90*. It looks like a T. What does the ChiVett weight? I bet it scoots pretty god. Hows' the stopping distance?

The manifolds are not ideal but about the best I could come up with in tight confined engine bay/frame rails. Right now it's weight is 2188LBS. Given the cars low HP it does well. Just need to get it to the track to get some 1/4 mile numbers before I start upgrading the engine.

Definitely. As much as I want to just run it as is. I'm thinking of throwing a new intake and throttle body on there with a new ECU so it can actually be tuned a little better than it is set up right now. Then I can stock up on parts and build it next winter. Intake won't add much I know but it's something that might push me into my goal of 11's

So after doing plenty of burnouts and romping around the trans let go of second gear. With some help I got this taken care of with a few upgrades and a yank 3600 stall. Secondly in the video you'll see the powe was only being put to the ground mainly on just the drivers side. So I installed an anti roll bar.

Here's the before vid.

You can hear it struggling to go through the gears properly. By time I got home second was gone.

In went the yank after the rebuild.

All put together I get much more even tire to ground contact.

I think we're all set for the track on Saturday. Should be a nice group of us going as long as nothing changes.

That car with that color, an LS engine and those tires, only one word for it:

Perfection.

Weather forecast has been steadily dropping all week. I hope it holds steady. I'm there as long as you all.

Haha thanks man. These tires are a pretty soft compound and my spool is really doing a number on them. I've been trying to get a new set of wheels for a while now. Just can't find a dealer to sell me the wheels in the offset my car requires even though the manufacture makes them.

Someday I plan on trying to straighten the rear bumper and left fender a little. Other than that the body is staying how it is.

Finally made it to the track. The first run was still early in the day, low 40's, and one of the first few cars to go down the track. Spun at the line and was all over the place to the 1/8th mile and finally let out of it as it was getting really out of control.

The next 4 runs were pretty good and met my goals for the car. I could've kept running it but it's pretty consistent so I'm happy with what I've got so far.

Here's my slips in order I ran and a couple low quality cell phone vids. Being my first car in the 11's I can seriously say the videos make it look so much slower than it feels coming out of the hole.
