Default Ls swap wiring help

Doing an ls1 swap in my 89 iroc, I have my painless harness installed and everything seems to be hooked up correctly but when I turn the key to crank the engine it's like the battery is dead, tried a new battery so that's not the issue, could this be the vats? I'm using the ecm that came with the painless harness that's supposed to have the vats disabled, anyone have any ideas, and if it's the vats how do I delete it? Thanks in advance

I doubt its the VATS thats keeping it from even cranking, you would need a starter relay and usually in a swap harness that isnt included. Does it click or anything? Is your neutral safety switch hooked up? Is it in park?

Have you xhexked to see if you're getting power to the starter when trying to crank it?

VATS has nothing to do with it not cranking.

There's power to the starter, I'm thinking it may have something to do with a ground

The starter needs power from the battery, and then power from the ignition switch/starter relay.

If it has power straight from the battery (or alternator), then your problem is in the ignition switch or starter relay.

You're getting power to the starter on the purple wire going to the starter solenoid while trying to crank it? If so, your starter is no good.

If you've got a jumper cable try jumping the main starter hot lead to the smaller terminal that the purple wire is on. This should bump the starter over. You can probably even do it with an old screwdriver (Just don't ground it on anything!) lol

My guess is you have no hot line from the ignition switch.

Did it have a manual transmission before the T56 swap? If so, there may be a switch that needs to "see" the clutch being depressed. If not, there may be a neutral safety switch that needs to be completed/adjusted/jumped across.

It was manual before, got it figured out now, was a problem with a ground and had to run a jumper for the neutral safety switch, it runs finally

Double check your grounds...make sure they are well grounded.
