The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I am at peace with the tailgate, I think you could either leave it (cleaned up as much as possible) would look just fine , or total restoration of it,(chrime trim, weather striping, ect) it could be redone to brand new and be very cool but no "pho-tina" however you say it.....
Did a quick smoothing of the whole area.
A little primer on the jamb area and the tailgate.
Then sprayed the green lacquer on the jamb and the hinges that had also been primered. You can see how it looks a little greener than the rest of the car.
I also painted the inside of the gate the gray that all the rest of the interior metal is painted and now just need to get it back together in the next two days so I can drive it to Texas this weekend for the GoodGuys show in Fort Worth. I'm going to this show because I sold the nicest vehicle I have ever built, my Blazer, and the guy who bought it is taking it down there. I had wanted to take it to a big show, but it was really too nice to drive that far, and it never had a top when I was driving it, so not something you leave in a motel parking lot. But, this way at least I'll get to see how it does at the show!
