Default 2000 LQ4 to TH350

Hey all-

I have done some research and apparently with this engine and the stock flexplate I will not need a spacer or adapter.

I have read I may need to elongate a few holes in the flexplate which I am not crazy about the Idea of slop?

The 4l80 converter was 6 bolts and the th350 converter looks a lot smaller and only 3 bolts?

I drilled the holes bigger in the original flex plate and bolted a turbo 350 to her and I have had no problems for 4 years. I even put a stall converter in 2 yrs ago and still no issues. instead of elongating the holes I put in on my drill press and just drilled the holes bigger and kept testing it against the converter till she fit. Good luck brother

Yep I slotted the flex plate holes on my flexplate while it was seated in a TH350 torque converter so I had a good true center. No spacer needed for the longer crankshaft.

I was wondering about this- is there a depression for the tabs or how did you "seat" it to make sure it was centered? Did you guys use a carbide bit in a dremel tool to slot the holes?

I used a 5.3 Flex with a Hughes Spacer and elongated the holes with a drill bit. all on my 6.0.

How did you make sure the torque converter was centered on the flex plate when you drilled/slotted the new holes?

Its a very snug fit on the torque converter for the LQ4 flexplate. I Believe it has 3 or 4 tabs that slip onto the torque converter snout. I slotted my holes with it on the torque converter sitting on a table.

I will have to take everything off to look at it as I don't see how it is going to work at all- thanks
