Default L33 question for s10

Have question Guys. Have a 93 s10 with an LM7 in it. 99 Silverado PCM and Harness. I have the opportunity to buy an L33 from a yard with 127k on it. 8th VIN is B which is aluminum 5.3. My question is, is there any way to be sure beforehand that it is rear cam sensor pickup and 24X without being there looking at the truck? My BIL lives close to the yard but I didn't know if maybe the truck might have some gen4 elecronics on it. Don't want to buy it and find out after the fact that I would have to make any major changes to my OS. If you have any advice I would be willing to hear

According to the "LSX ENGINE IDENTIFICATION STICKY" L33 was 05-06 only which is gen 4.

Gen 3 and Gen 4 overlap from 05-07.

If its an actual L33, it is a gen 3 engine. It still uses all gen 3 sensors and hardware.

That's what I've read Joe, tried to pm you earlier but no go. My BIL is gonna go and stand in front of the truck Saturday and answer all my questions before I pay for it. I read the sticky but there have been reports that muddle up the info when it comes to the 05-07 engines. Just want to be sure I won't have to reengineer the harness. I want a plug and play deal. I guess as long as it doesn't have AFM or any of the other stuff it will. Thanks.

I found this as well.

all "L33" (05-07 classics) are gen 3 24x tooth, in the body style change of '07 they were all 58x tooth rel. They were mostly "LY5" I believe.

Have him look at the crank sensor, right above the starter. If it's black it's 24X...gray is 58X....

T,
Cam sensor being right in front is usually just as obvious.
But as I said, if its Vin B, an L33, its a gen 3, 24x engine.

All 05+ engines have gen 4 rods, even if they are gen 3 engines.
Some 04 engines have gen 4 rods as well.

Gen 4 started with the LS4 coming in the FWD cars, and the LS2 in the GTO/Corvette, but they didn't have replacements for all of the gen 3 engines ready to go for trucks/SUVs/etc. It took until late 07 to completely phase those out.

I thought this as well until I bought a 5.3 out of a 05 Tahoe that had gen lll internals

Then it didn't have the original engine.
