Default Motor Mount Problem

I tried mocking up my engine in my 68 Camaro and the mount holes ont line up. I can always get one side to line up but the other is off center. Not by much but enought to stop the bolt from going through. Im using the BRP motor mounts. Any suggestions.

can you grind and elongate the hole enough to get the bolt through?

You could also loosen the bolts holding the mounts to the motor and once you get the bolts through on both sides, tighten the bolts holding the motor mounts to the motor- all the while leaving the weight on the hoist.

Do you have the tranny on the engine? Mine wouldn't fit that way, the T56 was hitting the top of the tranny tunnel and I had to cut the tunnel away so that the engine mounts would line up. It was a PITA, and took two of us pushing/pulling/bolting

Glad it is in now!

No the tranny isnt on it. Im going to try loosengins the bolts first but what should i do about the locktite, should i put more back on before i retighten the bolts. if that doesnt work would elongating the hole be safe. or would it mess up drivetrain alignment.

Elongating the holes would be OK, thoertically, so long as you open them up just enough to allow them to match up with the frame mount holes and open them up the same amount on both sides. If you open them up just enough the will just barely mate up and there will be no room for any play.
