Default LS1 in a miata...

Now that my Z28 is done I have decided to look into doing something a bit sick. I was wondering if anyone has successfully done this yet. Heard a lot about ford 302 installs but I believe a LS1 would be a bit easier considering the fact that I have some LS1 experience already. New motor mounts would definitely be a must but I believe it would fit. So if you have done this post up.

I want one of these SO bad

In black though.

Imagine driving up to a viper/whatever in your queer little miata then destroying him.

Those things weigh less than 2500 lbs.

Did I mention I want one?

It looks like a Magnachager would fit nicely too

I've been wanting to do one of those, but I'm still getting the money together, I wanted to put a forged 383 LS1 w/dp n2o, m6, 4.10 gears in w/ an idr, just not sure how the m6 will fit, if not then a built th400...

This is a bit old, But I have seen these first hand in Vista/ San marcos CA. They love doing conversions - having 2 LS1 miatas, 1 ls1 Rx7 ( FD3s ) and 1 lt1 rx7- (fd3s) That was a month or two back. It is a very tight fit. But Man, I was on the way to the shop driving my ls1bird, ( looks like a v6 ) and the miata wanted to race. I thought. Man that is a beefed car- probly an 350 or something crazy in that thing. He had a hard time hookin but it was moving like nobodys business when he wasnt flooring it - hehe.

I checked it out at the shop where he showed me their custom motor mounts which didnt look to complicated - and the tranny. Again it was a very tight fit. ( and the shop wanted way more than it was worth to do it again ) But its is a very doable swap - =) good luck if u attempt it.

i have just begun this conversion on my 1990 miata... i pulled out my 300 rwhp turbo 1.6l engine last week. today my 98 ls1/t56 arrived... tomorrow i take the plasma cutter to the car! i cant wait to get this done. im sure i will run into hurdles along the way, and will need assistance from this fine forum.

I'm most of the way through this converion. I am stuck on VATS. Can anyone shed some light? I don't really want to spend $500 to get LS1edit. I'm not looking to increase power at this point... Just get the car running.

I am in the process of completing mine. I was wondering if we can discuss some issues regarding this swap. I have engine and tranny mounted (along with drive shaft). I am now doing electrical and suspension. Maybe we can trade phone numbers?

Sam.
