I do need to pull the pan to add my 10an bulkhead connector for the turbo drain and I was going to add some arp rod bolts for some insurance in this 2000 LQ4 H3 Pan or Grind Crossmember?-image-1983095997.jpg As you can see it sits about 2" below the crossmember as. The Gremlin doesn't sit like a corvette so that doesn't worry me as much as it could but would rather hit something else before the pan if I did. H3 Pan or Grind Crossmember?-image-2133293031.jpg Here it hits just barely H3 Pan or Grind Crossmember?-image-3843338685.jpg This side has about 1/16" - 1/8" clearance. With rubber mounts how close is too close? H3 Pan or Grind Crossmember?-image-1165909551.jpg Here it is from the bottom... I could prob grind the crossmember back 1/4" pretty easily without weakening it too much I would guess...

What do you all think I should do?

Get the right oil pan for your application, the crossmember clearance is probably the least of your concerns. There is no reason to drive a car with an oil pan hanging that low, and any skidplate would have to run the length of the pan and be capable of supporting the weight of the entire front end. Pans are cheap, you could probably find one in the classifieds pretty easily.

Ok I measured it and it protrudes 1.5" below the crossmember. From a few drawings I deduce the h3 pan has a rear sump depth of 7.5 or 7.75 as the drawings are not consistent. The 2000 truck pan which I assume is the same as a 2002 has a rear sump depth of 8.25 or 8.75. If it is 8.75 and 7.5 we are in business with only a 1/4" protrusion which I can easily cover with 1/4" plate to the bottom of the crossmember.

Does anyone know the proper dimensions of the LH8/H3/muscle car pan?

Thanks!

Get a Holley pan. I bet it will fit without any work, and won't hang down. I used one in my S10. Best pan on the market! It's almost 2" shorter than a H3 pan.

There are two versions of the Holley pan (302-1 and 302-2) and they have different dimensions. Holley's site has all the technical information for fitment.
