Default Oil sending sensor

I want to use the original oil sending sensor on my LS1 motor that came out of a 2000 firebird Trans Am. I put the motor into my 67 Camaro. I would like to know what gauge I could use for that original sending unit with an aftermarket gauge?

If you're stuck on using the ls1 sender, I can't help you with a gauge. What I did was get the Autometer M16X1.5 to 1/8 npt adapter p/n 2268, about 12 bucks. Fits the block and lets you use your Camaro's original sender for your stock gauge, if equipped, or any after market gauge sender. I used an Autometer mechanical gauge, not electric, with copper tubing to the gauge for better accuracy, but that's me.

Most gauges include the sending units when you buy them. Why do you want to use the oem sender?

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm not hooked on using the original sending unit. I would just like to use the location. The part # jimnovals mentioned looks like it will work well. Any suggestions on gauges?

Stewart Warner and Autometer are both excellent gauges. Summit has many different styles of Autometer and I'm sure you can find something to suit your taste. Once you put that 2268 adapter in the block any gauge you pick will have a sensor that will fit the 1/8" npt thread in the adapter.

I left the LS sender hooked up to the PCM and added an original style sender that worked with my 69 dash gauge into a hole drilled and tapped into a plate down near the oil filter. so I have 2 oil senders now. One keeps the PCM happy and the other shows me oil pressure on the dash OEM gauge. Just another option unless you really want to add a new gauge.

I didn't think the PCM used oil pressure for anything?

Not sure about all years and ECM/PCMs, but the Oil Pressure sensor would normally connect to the BCM and it's signal would sent to the Gauge Cluster. As far as I recall.

You are probably right. I may have been thinking about the water temp sensor. I recall leaving OEM sensor on the engine for PCM and adding another one for the dash gauge. been too long. sorry if I confused you. I did add an old style sender down by the oil filter for the dash gauge though
