Default LS1 swap into mustang

My buddy really wants to get an LS1 and put it into his 92 GT. How much would all this cost. Includind transmission work, fabrication etc, etc....?

Wait a couple months while this conversion is built, and follow along on the progress:

Brains: Stop working on the website and get into the garage!! (Unless of course you have stuff done and just haven't documented it on the site yet.) I want to show my Mustang buddies what they should be doing with their cars instead of messing with those little "5-oh"s. My car should be making its maiden voyage around the neighborhood this weekend then it'll show them the real power of the LS1!!!
Good luck with the project.

Couple things are getting in my way of making "real" progress.. Emergency exhaust work for a buddy's g/f, cam swap for another dude, tranny swap in the Formula, blah blah blah..

Okay, just excuses, I know -- I have done a little bit of prep work but nothing major to report

So my plan is to use a cam/headers motor and skip the ported heads for now. People are making great power with a G5X2 or equivilent, and with 4.10s in it now, the car wont need toooooo much low end.

My coupe as it sits weighs around 2750 without me. I have a coilover front, tubular A-arms, a tubular K, manual steering, no AC, and a Jaz seat for the driver. The rear is a 4.10 gearset with all aftermarket suspension in the back.

The car does not handle well at all, and is obviously a drag car. It will probably stay that way.

One of my specific requirements is to avoid aftermarket hoods, which looks to be not an issue.

I would also like to use a T56 *if possible*. I suspect that will create added difficulty, and so is still up in the air.

LS1coupe, I think I see a tranny dipstick? How did the shifter match up with the console?

Visceral, I used a TH350 tranny that bolted up to the stock crossmember and welded a 22gage piece of metal over the shifter hole so I could mount a B&M Pro stick shifter that fits in the console perfect. On the T56 swap you would have to set the motor more forward and cut the oil pan.

My friend is doing the same conversion. Are those hooker headers?

In his 86 coupe with all the interior goup scraped out, and virtually stripped other than seats/doorpanels/carpet, draglites/skinnies, tubular k member with an ls1 and th350

the car is going to weigh in right at 2400 lbs without him 2550 with him.
