Default 00 S10 LS swap

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and interested in doing a swap in my '00 S10. The motor in my truck is a 2.2l with a 5sp. With air conditioning. My donor vehicle is a '99 Chevy suburban 5.7l with automatic. I know some modifications will need to be done for this to be possible. Mounts would have to changed out. Heard the firewall would need to be worked on some. Suspension would need to be beefed up a little. Switching out the wiring harnesses and possibly the computer. Trying to see if it's really worth me taking two perfectly running vehicles to make the LS swap possible by pulling the heart out of the suburban. Both vehicles are in very nice shape. Plus, I'm thinking about keeping the 5sp in my S10 if all I have to do is change the bell housing. I know there's some great knowledgeable people on here who could point me in the right direction on this. Please comment and share your thoughts along with posting up links for anything I will need. Thanks!

The 99 5.7 isn't an LS engine.
Its an L31, and is still technically an old-school Gen 1 small block.

Default V8 swap

Yes it is worth doing.

But as previously mentioned, this is an old school driveline. 350 SBC and TH700R4 (or 4L60E). The swap is considerably easier than the LS swap. The computer & wiring are different than the 2.2.

Swapped a '95 2.2 S10 to a 350 / TH350 set up a few years back, then updated to a L69 305 w/TH700R4 (same truck). Your big issue will be the 4.10:1 rear axle. Can't keep from spinning the tires.

Other changes: The fuel pump will need to be changed, can pull everything out of the "Burb. Exhaust, get a set of headers and build an exhaust system. No standard exhaust manifolds will work. Tried V8 Monza and truck, neither worked. HEI distributor wires to the keyed 12 volt post (by the fuse box). The front accessories should clear and a 4.3 radiator should fit and keep it cool.

Suspension- use good (MOOG) parts for a zq8 S-10 or S-10 Extreme with a 4.3. This should include shocks, springs, upper & lower control arms and a complete linkage kit. Also address the brakes. New rotors and good pads (EBC Green stuff pads?). You might also consider using the 1996+ Blazer calipers (dual piston). The common swap mounts and 2.8 frame pads are the way to go on a first gen motor swap.

Transmission - Well..... The 5 speed will work, but you need to source a 4.3 bellhousing. They are out there, just not too common. If the 'Burb is 2wd, the easier route is to use the auto trans.

Pop over on the V8S10.org site. Lots of good info there on doing the swap. The MPG is going to drop when this swap is done, to around 20 from the 28-30 you get now.
