Default K5 Blazer

I have an project that I will start later this spring. I have an 85 K5 Blazer that I picked up a 6.0 and 4L80E for. The engine came from Rome NY, so it has a lot of surface rust on the outside that all has to be cleaned up and then painted. It looks like hell right now. Here some pics of the setup and the Blazer.

It was like that on the outside when I got it a couple of years back but the interior needed help. I put new carpet in it, seats and console out of an 04 Silverado, and fixed a lot of small stuff like door trim and window motors. I would have never bought it but it had any rust, but it does not.

Sweet project. I have an 84 diesel K5 that I'm rounding up parts to do a LS2/4L80E swap. How is getting in and out of the rear with the Silverado seats and console?

You probably have. The one you can see in the back ground of the engine pic has a 5.3/60E in it.

The first one I built I used an LS1/T56 setup. Later I swapped that for a 418 cubic inch LS3 and a built 200-4R. That's what was in it the year I took it to Richmond, Indiana for the Monte Carlo Nationals. This was me on the front row.

My youngest son has it with a stock 5.3 in it, but I am getting it back soon. I still have the go fast motor.

Well it's been a while since I updated this. I finally retired from work so now I have time to work on my own stuff. The motor I got was extremely nasty on the inside and rusty on the outside. I got it completely torn down today. Here are some pictures of the grease. I have some somewhere of all the rust, but couldn't find them tonight. The motor has no wear at all. The bearings looked amazing for 196K.

Nice K5, congrats on retirement. I'm doing a 6.0/80 swap on a 90 K5. Wondering if you are using the factory transfer case? Not sure what the 85 has but I beleive my 90 has a 241 just looking to see maybe if you have found a gear to go from the 32 spline 80 output to the 241

I have always loved K5's... Had a 86 Jimmy Sierra Classic back in HS. Was a beast.

You will need this for the NP241. I found the same thing for my NP208. You may also have to get a clocking ring if the transfer case won't go all the way up to the transmission adapter. I got an adapter for a TH400. The end of that and the 80E are the same.
