Default LS7 in 2000 Camaro

I picked up an LS7 crate motor for a 5th generation Z-28. I'm putting it in my 2000 Camaro. The harmonic balancer on the LS7 is offset towards the timing cover as is the water pump pulley and will not line up with the accessory pulleys on the LS1 in my car now. The LS1 harmonic balancer and water pump pulley are offset towards the radiator.

Can I put an LS1 harmonic balancer and water pump on the LS7? I read on other forums there might be a clearance issue with the LS1 water pump and the LS7 timing cover.

If the LS-1 parts won't work, what are my other options?

Thank you.

LS7s have unique balancers and are not interchange with other LS engines because of the bigger dry sump oil pump.

This swap isn't trivial for many reasons.

I thought you could take a standard Vette balancer (wet sump), put it on the long snout LS7 and it would come back out to the f-body line. Its been a while so I dont remember for sure.

First off you will nearly likely have to convert to dry sump. That includes the following things.

1 remove crank pulley, front cover, oil pan, windage tray, oil pump, crank timing gear.
2 use your fbody balancer, crank timing gear, oil pump, oil pan, windage tray, pickup tube. then youll need an ls3 front cover, ls2 timing chain tensioner, cam and knock sensor extension harness, crank spacer, new ls7 crank bolt, ls7 injector adapters, map sensor extension harness, map sensor adapter
3 use lingenfelter 58x to 24x conversion box
4 drill oil dipstick boss out for fbody dipstick tube
5 get special headers with ls7 flange on them. kooks makes some we have em
6 92mm cable tb
7 cable tb bracket
8 remove big pilot bearing in crank if auto or manual
For manual trans install the small pilot
9 get racetronix 255lph pump kit with hotwire
Your fbody accy will work on it after all that

Add dry sump to your car.
Or convert the motor to wet sump.

That's it, do research and choose your path.

The LS7 gets a significant amount of its power from its dry sump system.. Once your in that deep,,

You don't have to use the "OEM" dry sump parts, there are cheaper and easier to install options from the oval track catalogs.. Make sure your supply line from the tank to engine runs in a continuous line, don't let it go up and down it can trap a air bubble.. And thats bad..

Significant amount? Of that i am not so sure.
It has heads and intake for high rpm and has the cid for the power. Windage could be a problem yes, but im not sure if there has been a dyno of the ls7 going from dry to wet.

Im not even sure if you can put the dry sump pan into the fbody without modification anyway, and none of the accy would line up either.

Superchevy did the swap, http://www.superchevy.com/features/0...et-camaro-z28/

Others have build threads scattered here of the same swap.

Looks plenty expensive plus that is a horrible place to put the oil tank. What they also dont say is normally you need to put the aviaid baffle in the ls7 tank to keep the oil from aerating there for drag racing or road course.
