I'm new here but I'm sure there are at least a couple of you that have done ls swaps on these trucks. I'm locating the engine in mine right now and have some questions. The engine is sitting farther forward than I thought it would. Do any of you have any rough measurements or pictures of where your engine is mounted? Did you have to raise the firewall tunnel? I was wanting to use the factory ls ac compressor but seems like I'm going to have to move it. I'm using a 4l60e trans. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there!
We're doing a swap on a 1951 truck (on S10 frame), far from complete...
Few days ago we put in the engine aswell, we made custom brackets for it, to move it backwards. I don't have alot of pictures on my cell atm, I might make a few more later this week if you want.
I'm not sure if you can see it, but there's still a bit of space between the engine and the firewall. We kinda should have put the engine even further backwards.
Still no clue how we will solve the radiator.
Alot of missing pieces to the puzzle still
We're running a 4L65 trans and we kept the stock tunnel, theres a very very narrow gap between them, like 1/2'
And we simply removed the AC, as it interferes with our S10 frame.

It's hard to tell for sure because I'm using the stock frame but just going by the axle center line my engine is back 2-3" farther I think which is probably why my transmission is hitting the firewall so bad

Which adapter plates are you using? The 1 inch setback mounts will put the engine in the factory bellhousing location for you.
