Riddle me this 4.8 vortec
#41
the 4.8 has the exact same potential really. The difference between the 4.8 I want and the 5.3 a lot of people end up with is 30ft lbs of torque. That's it. Same horsepower @ 285. Unless you go with the L33 the. It's a difference of 15hp and 40' lbs of torque. The end result isn't going to be a helluva lot different. Not enough difference for me anyways.

obviously to see if my ballpark figure is right, and if it's not what the figure would be. Thought the whole point of a forum was to be able to reach out and get help when you need it from people who have experience. Don't worry, I won't bother posting again. Asking for basic help seems to be too much burden here.

You are correct, that is what the forum is for, and there are a lot of very knowledgeable people on here. But you really cant expect them to want to help out somebody they dont know when that person comes on and immediately starts calling people idiots. I'm not trying to stir the **** pot, but rather trying to let you know you may get more help if you back off a bit and dont come off as a know it all dick, since nobody is going to want to help someone like that. Best of luck to you on whatever forum you go to next.
If they shoe fits, wear the damned thing.

I just bought this 145 k mile 5.3 from Craigslist. Longblock with all accessories, new alternator and starter, most of the wiring harness but it has been cut. No ECM, pedal or MAF for $350.
