Another way to look at things is to find a vehicle for which you can get a complete kit from 1 supplier. For example, you can get a complete kit including headers, mounts, trans cross-member... for a '57 Bel Air, engine and trans will be bolted in in an afternoon! Same idea for rad, EFI fuel tank...
Because, I am thinking, an LS into a Z Datsun is not an easy swap!

Oh man. With the type of questions the OP is asking that is just cruel. The flaming ******** on that sight will chew him up.

Besides, wrong type of 240

Actually it is unquestionably one of the easiest swaps to make. There are kits that claim only 20 hours of wrenching.

You can do a really nice G-body swap with that kind of budget.

Buy an LT1 Camaro and do an LS swap.
Soooooooooooooo many aftermarket parts that will fit that car.
LT1 cars are cheap too then you can part the engine out.

Only reason I avoided a camaro/chevy/truck type vehicle is the weight. at 2800lbs you can have around 100 horsepower less and still walk something that has 3800lbs. I've passed good driver 520rwhp ~4000lbs cars with a 380rwhp car @ 2800lbs. So imagine what you could do with a 3000lbs 500rwhp car. Thats a stock $500 El cheapo truck IRON LSx at 15psi of boost on 93 octane with some meth in a lightweight 240sx chassis.
