71 El Camino LS Swap going to need some help !!
Hey guys I have a very clean El Camino ( Frame off ) that I finished restoring around 04 . Car is numbers matching except for the engine . Less then 2000 miles on it since restoring .
My plan is to pull all the drive train and replace it with a built and stroked LS3 and a T56 trans with a 9" rear .
I will be updating the brakes with Corvette C6 Zo6 brakes 18" wheels as well as a complete suspension package from Speedtech Performance .
The longest trip I made with the car was when I picked it up in California and drove it back to Utah . About 700 miles . Before the restore . With the 454 and M22 and 3:73 rear gear I did not pass many gas stations . The 2nd longest trip was from my house to my in laws to park the car 6 years ago . About 170 miles .
My thinking is this , I want a dependable driver with good handling and stopping power as well as some better MPGs .
I could never sell the car for what I have in it . Nor do I want to . So to me my only option is to build it the way I would if I started all over again today .
Now I know some of you will call me crazy and others will be ok with the swap . But I really enjoy working on muscle cars and hot rods wIth my 19 year old son.

Front end !
I tried to get the car back down on the ground this weekend with no luck . 1st my billet tie rod sleeves are the wrong size got 5/8" need 11/16" .
2nd the sway bar is touching on the drag link .
Rear end !
Over the this past week I tried to get the rear end assembled with no luck .
1st I found my Kore3 C6 ZO6 brake bracket kit will not fit . A call to Kore3 and they are going to get me some new brackets built to fit . Even through I bought it over a year ago . If you guys ever looking to do a brake swap Call Tobin at Kore3 !
2nd A week ago Friday I drop off the 3rd member to the shop and was told it would take a 2 days and I could pick it up . So Friday I called and was told it would be another week before it would be done . Well a have fell into this trap before so I went to the shop and pick it up and took it to another shop .
3rd I then planed to install the trailing arms to get it down on the floor to set ride height and get the wheels ordered . I have the early a body uppers and are 2 1/2" longer then they need be .
So phone calls and a week waiting for parts !
