Default Radiator over flow catch tank be sealed?

With the hose running from the radiator cap to the catch tank. Should the tank be sealed or allowed to vent air? Does it matter how its mounted heigth wise in relation to the radiator cap? Radiator cap is currently the highest point.

Default

You want it vented. Height wise just below the cap is good, just make sure the overflow tube goes to the bottom of the container. That way when the engine cools it can suck coolant back into the radiator.

Lots of guys are switching to deaerating tanks that are in the high pressure side. Those obviously need to be sealed just like a radiator.
