Curious if you know for sure the length of either of these fit? I am also looking to change out my factory a/c box for a under dash setup from either something else, or a vintage air GenII mini setup.

Good news!

I was pulling my hair out trying to find a rad and the ONLY ones i could find that were the size i needed were over 800 bucks and NO TRANS COOLER ports.

Well i called up superior radiator and asked if any of their other rads were closer to the size i was looking for and they said draw a picture of what i wanted and they would make the size I need for the same price!

Send a spec of 18 high, 35 wide, trans ports, and rad hoses both on pass side. Ill see what happens!

I won't know for a while, but I will be building a full custom interior, so I don't know what would be involved with using it with a factory dash.
I can make the dash work around it.

I hope to get the engine in the right end of the truck before winter, and then I might hit the junkyard to pick one up and mock it up.

I want to shave the firewall, and I can't afford any of the Vintage A/C type systems.

I'll try to keep everyone posted on what I find.

FYI i have my REAR crossover pipe mocked up and after that the downpipe is going to be a bear, main issue is upper control arm to bottom of evaporator housing clearance, what im going to do is hit up the parts store and look for an evaporator a couple inches shorter, then modify the housing to match.

Ive thought about the aftermarket or oem underdash swap but id was it 100% functional as far as swithcing between defrost dash and feet and I shutter at the amount of work to make all that work like stock.....dash in and out many times for duct fitting and routing...

I like the superior s10 rad. My core support is modded but fit nicely in stock one

The thing I see is that performing poorly because of the huge open area by the radiator which will pressurize your engine bay going down the road and limit the airflow through your radiator. Seal that core support up!

EVERY inch of space in a turbo LS S10 build, is a premium! And every inch costs either time or money or both! LOL

jay in mi just to throw this out there for you. A buddy of mine has a 48 chevy pick street rod. he used a under dash hvac with ac from a z car because it was tight under his dash. he didn't want to cut up a original steel dash so it's mounted under. I don't remember which z it was for sure i thought he said it was a 240z but could have been a 260z or 280z too. I'm sorry i can't ask him for you he since passed on.

Just an update, after beating on the truck for a summer, the cooling system is a success. Im glad I went as large as humanly possible, with a stalled 4l80e, 5.3 with turbo, air to air intercooler and air conditioning, the setup creates an absurd amount of heat.

With 160 degree thermostat the engine will hang around 210 or so with a heat soak and rolling ac. trans stays good a cool with aftermarket cooler and fan mounted under drivers side floorpan in conjunction with rad cooler.

Truck has inner fender wells too.

and as a reference point, if I dont run ac, I can flog the truck and stay right at thermostat's temp (which will always be around 10-15 degrees above advertised temp rating) and hang solid within a few degrees variation. Ac makes all the difference in the world as you are now trying to cool your engine with hot air.

I run This radiator and fans. It's not the cheapest setup but it works well and keeps my LSA supercharger 6.0 cool on the hottest days.

Thats the same brand. Superior radiator.

I think these fans actually move more than enough air and seem to be decent quality, I'm at around 550hp and the fans are set to run at 80% and at 195* and it stays put and they are pretty quite. We ran the intrepid fans on a Nova and don't seem to move as much air but it is a different radiator and shroud so that could be the difference, We also ran early 90's Thunderbird fans on a swap and they work pretty well and are easy to integrate.

I also noticed you had to hack up the radiator support and no longer have the factory latch, I wanted to keep the clean factory look. Does the grille still fit?
