Alternator Relocation and Water Pumps Offsets
My original plan was to use ICT Billets Passenger head alternator mount and drivers head power steering mount. Both utilize an F-body alternator/PS pump and Water pump (with 1/4" spacers + 1/4" for the engine plates). This allows for the belt offset work with the Camaro/truck offset.
Another thought came to mind about using the F-body offset. Using a drivers head mounted PS pump, I can retain the f-body offset which leaves me with just needing the alternator/WP setup. When talking about WP's is the belt offset difference ONLY from the pulley or is it made up by the housing also?
Reason I ask, I could use a Corvette WP with 1/2" spacers (+1/4" for the front plates) and get an alternator mount that uses the water pump as its mounting location. However, this is only possible if the Corvette WP offset and F-body offset are only different from the bell/pulley.
Early (98?) LS1 Vettes and Camaros had a bell / bowl pulley and similar or same water pump, the belt fit forward with the shallow accessories, or back on the pulley with the mid-depth accessories. So one spacer set should let the pump offer long/truck accessories use. They're saying 0.500" and from the looks of it, the t-stat may interfere with the belt, so you may not need that depth if your plates are qtr. inch.
I have a good idea of where you're headed, and speaking of tension ERs, have you looked at the automatic styles on a BMW 6, or new LT1?
What vehicle?
