Default 5.3 Question

Is a 5.3 Impala motor the same as the 5.3 truck motor? I know the Impala is front wheel drive and I’d like to swap a 5.3 into my 69 Camaro

As I understand, the car engines are different. Crankshaft is shorter, starter mounts to the trans (not the block) and the bellhousing bolt pattern is different. Could be wrong, but for some reason, those differences stick out in my mind. Take a pass.

The Impala 5.3 block is a completely different animal, made for FWD only. The accessory drives are different too. Long story short, if you want a 5.3 in your Camaro, find a truck engine. Available in both iron and aluminum blocks.
