Default Gen3 5.3 to Gen4 Conversion?

So I have a Gen3 5.3 I am budget building for my 240SX with later plans to go with a Stroker LS3. More or less I am trying to see if there is a way to make this Gen3 work with a Gen4 harness. This way down the road when I drop the LS3 in I can just plug and play without buying a new harness or bunch of adapters to make it work.

From what I could devise on my own I need an LS2 timing cover with cam sensor in it, 1X upper timing gear, LS2 valley cover, and to relocate the knock sensors. Does this sound about right? Or should I just bite the bullet and leave this 5.3 spec'd out to Gen3 and buy another harness when I install the LS3?

The gen 3 and gen 4 use very different PCM connectors where the wiring harness plugs into the PCM.

I can get either harness. Would rather buy once cry once

The only way to use the same harness for both would be to get a Lingenfelter 58x box, that way you can use the LS3 with the 5.3 PCM/harness.

The harnesses and PCMs are completely different for gen 3 and gen 4, there won't be any other way to mix them.

Joe nailed it. You can up convert from 24x to 58x using the box by using a "gen 3 harness."

If your not planning on spinning to the moon ( 7500 rpm or more ) then I am a fan of the 24x system for ease of wiring and tuning support. The 58x swaps are more complex and not as user friendly ( not as many tuning options ) plus super easy to find a 24x harness/PCM. When the time comes for the new engine install a 24x reluctor and reuse all your harness/PCM. Easy and best approach imo
