an oil leak ended my night short Friday too. Thought I had it fixed but seen some on the ground after the track Saturday too. Mines up high behind the intake. It’s either the cam sensor o ring or knock sensor seal again.
The oil pressure sender is there too. Also a potential leak..

that was my first guess. Replaced it with another new stocker then a low dollar motorsports sensor. Still got a leak back there

i have all the stuff to turbo it aside from injectors and the skill to weld. ive got an eye condition thats made it all but impossible to weld stuff up. We had plans to start on it right as the country shut down for the covid. My friend who is a welder is being really cautious with social interactions still and as such no progress was made. So i decided i wanted to be able to at least race it until then.

Dang that's too bad. Hopefully you can get him to get back to it soon enough. I run decapped truck injectors in mine for what it's worth and they work mint. I have a hard time paying big money for injectors haha. Sounds good and it's a fun time regardless of a turbo. I'm hoping to get to the track soon.

On my first one I built it with the turbo all in one shot so i never drove it without chu chu noises. This last one i just wanted it together so I went with a stock 5.3 just to get it running. It was ok. With the 5 speed it honestly felt just like a stock 4.6. The stock 6.0 definitely was fun once i swapped that in. Now I'm antsy waiting to finish the LSA swap. I'm so excited and nervous to drive it again after working this hard I'm just hoping it doesn't break haha. I totally know what your feeling, I'm there right now. All said and done it'll be totally worth it I'm sure that much i can guarantee. Yours have a stock cam in it still? Stock converter?

sloppy stage 2 cam from elgin, stock converter still. makes launching it boring. it just starts pushing through the brakes at like 1800rpm. i am replacing my brake master cause i think the orings inside it are old and brittle from sitting with no fluid for a couple years. pedal drops to the floor when hard pressing it. might be able to make it work harder once i fix that lol.

My brakes were awesome before my cam i noticed a big change after the cam.... maybe the way it effects vacuum? Not sure. I used to be able to do nasty brake stands now it just pushing the car forward.I feel like even with a stock converter that cammed 5.3 should be faster than it is. Maybe you could do the sloppy 3rd gear trick to get up on that converter a little bit more. That could help a bit.

just based on my butt dyno, i think its low 13s now. running 1st out another 1200 rpm compared to that run (it short shifted at 5500) plus getting the AFR up to 13:1 from 11.2:1 and adding 2 more degrees of timing. it feels way faster than it did on that pass when i was making my test hits on the return road lol.

haha gotta love the good old butt dyno. Hopefully you can get her back to the track and crank her up and see what she'll do.

got some of the parts in. went ahead and swapped the front main seal and cover. ive never had good luck installing a new seal into the covers so i just spend the extra on a new one. got the car back together and running again. need to check status on my brake master cylinder and then i can do some test drives. maybe get in another track day before the state shuts down again.

we made the intercooler pipes over the weekend, my friend Mikey is coming by thursday to tig those together and add the IAT, bov flanges. got the oil feed line run just need to pop the ICT Billet crossover block on it and build the drain hose. all thats left will be adding the wastegate to the up pipe and and doing some vacuum hose routing. boost coming very soon.

the turbo exhaust is temporary. this is the pipe that i was using as an exhaust NA and it happened to fit/clear everything for testing.

got some vacuum bits arriving tomorrow that im going to try and get all routed up so i can start it up this weekend for the first time with the spinny boi on it. Once i verify that all works and no leaks ill rip out the harness/ecu and replace it all with the holley.

Im loving this. Nothing better than some fresh choo choo noises. I would recommend starting it with the turbo off and let some exhaust run through those freshly welded pipes. I actually had a piece come off and go into my turbo and jammed it up. I managed to get it out but it could’ve been avoided if I was more patient and did that first haha. Can’t wait to hear this thing in action.

I went through the inside of the welds with a carbide burr and knocked off all the bits that made it through the welding. it "should" be clean of loose dinguses to fall through. but yea im super pumped about hearing the choochoo noises from it.

lots of progress over the last few weeks.

finished up the exhaust fabrication, modified the bumper to fit the intercooler, removed the oem ecu/harness, swapped in the new injectors and started wiring the holley up. also picked up some new rims. the set on the car now have shanked lugs with offset washers and they are super frustrating to take on and off. so i bought some jegs stars with conical seats and they work way better lol.
