Hello,

Our needs are extremely similar . . . I also have a 70 El Camino - Kansas City car, January 1970 build. Non SS 350 SBC and TH 350 trans but those are both now removed. My questions are regarding an LM7 drive by cable engine out of a model year 2000 Silverado truck and 4L60E trans so I won't be of much use to you here for your 700R-4. Though some people go with a "full pressure" valve body to eliminate the problem of burned up clutches due to mis-adjusted TV cables.

We should compare notes some time though. Good luck with your build and I will be watching.

I have a 2000 Corvette LS1 going into a 1979 El Camino. I have a 4L60E, so don't need the TV cable, but the engine did not come with the TAC module for the fly by wire throttle body. TAC modules are around $450 on eBay, too much for me, so I got a 4th gen Camaro cable throttle body. I'll have to have the PCM flashed to be a 2000 Camaro rather than a 2000 Corvette, but that should work. I used stock 4th gen throttle cable.

EDIT: forgot to say that I repinned the harness to match the Camaro, and added connectors for the TPS and IAC.

Cable throttle body from a truck will work fine. They're cheap, and virtually the exact same thing that's on the 4th gen F-body. The harness will either have to be replaced by one with cable throttle connectors on it, or you can just add the IAC/TPS connectors to the harness yourself (not difficult at all to do). It might just be easier to trade your DBW harness/PCM/throttle/pedal/etc for the DBC throttle, harness, PCM because MOST (not all) DBW PCMs don't have the hardware to control the stepper motor for the idle valve.

Or you can just rig up a bracket that'll let you attach your TV cable to the DBW throttle pedal.
