Default DBW Throttle opperation with engine off.

With a converted to stand alone wiring harness using DBW.
It is my understanding that with the key on and engine off the throttle plate should move when the foot feet (throttle) is push upon. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Isnt this done so one can clear a flooded motor if required?
Thanks
Rick

Flooded motors and EFI don't exactly go hand in hand.....

Subscribing to learn more about dbw operation.

I can confirm on my DBW LQ9 with key on and engine not running the pedal does operate the throttle blade.

As stated above, GenIII DBW engines the throttle bodies move without the engine running, not sure about the newer engines though. You are correct about holding the throttle down to clear a flooded engine, but it really has nothing to do with the throttle body, it shuts off the injectors if you go 100% open throttle while cranking.

Edit: I missed the fact that the video was an LS2... lol

Gen IV throttle will also move with the pedal. EFI systems have a "clear flood" algorithm. If the engine is off and the throttle is pressed more than a certain TPS% while cranking (usually 30-50%) then the ECU temporarily disables the cranking injector pulsing to clear the flooding.

I thank everyone for the replies. I always suspected this was the case as it made sense from a mechanical standpoint. (the video was cool) Also appreciated the clarification on the clear flood mode. I have a DBW setup and I want to be sure it works correctly before I attempt starting the motor.
