Default Gen III Engine Connector Part Numbers Inside

So, I've been working (pretty slowly) on swapping a 2003 LQ4 and 4L80E into my '89 S-10 Standard Cab. Due to the fact that it's been cold as ba**s, I tried to find things I could do inside.
So, I thought it would be a good idea to start working on thinning out my wiring harness.
As I went through it, I eliminated a lot of wires, and found a few broken connectors. I started searching for replacement part numbers using Google, eBay, etc.

I came across a few threads on forums like LS1tech, Thirdgen.org, etc. Several were started by (or largely responded to by) Pocket.

So for the past couple of weeks, I've been trying to track down all of the connectors that were on my LQ4 DBW harness and a few that might apply to stand alone conversions. My initial intent was to put them in spreadsheet form listing the part number, color, connector family, and additional parts that might be required (like terminals, seals, locks, etc.) But that got out of hand quickly. So, I decided to just list the connector part number and a link to it's data sheet on the Aptiv online catalog. There is a tab on the catalog page that says “related products” that lists all of the parts available.

I also found a few other miscellaneous connectors that might be of interest.

Lets get started with the Engine connectors:

I make no guarantee as to anything. These were what I found after several days of research, and comparison to my own 2003 LQ4 DBW Harness being used for my own application.
Hopefully some other people can add to or correct any misinformation that I may have supplied.

Fbody and Corvette parts would be a great addition to this thread.

Sorry about the formatting, tried setting it up with href tags, but couldn't get it to transfer over right.

Jay,

Excellent information! Maybe someone can add the Gen IV information...

Thanks. I thought it would be helpful since I couldn't find all this info in one place, but take it with a grain of salt. I did a lot of searching and cross referencing and using Google Image search to get some of this info, and some of the plugs I verified by finding Chinese versions and then they said "replacement for Delphi..." I'm sure MOST are correct, but some of the round 3 pin plugs might be iffy. Oil pressure and A/C refrigerant use the same plug, and it's a black body, but it has a gray lock on the sensor side.
On this particular connector, I believe I got the connector number right from a Delphi Diagram.

What mine looks like (Photo credit to Alibaba)

What the actual current part looks like (Photo credit to Havoc Speed)

I couldn't find that exact connector (with the gray lock -- except as a pigtail), but it looks like it may have been replaced. Perhaps, in that case, buying a pigtail, then getting pins and making your own might be an option.

I've tried using EFIsource, EFI Connection, Mouser, eBay, Waytek, etc. to verify things visually, but they don't have Delphi part numbers listed.

If anyone finds corrections, that would be awesome.

Also, if you can post pics of Gen IV connectors we might be able to ID those connectors as well.

Jay

Edit: Found the updated connector part number and updated first post.

Thanks for commenting. I saw this was your only post and you've been a member since '09. Much appreciated.

I see that CPW has a lot of the connectors/pigtails, but they're typically 4-5 times the price of buying them from places like Mouser. Figured if someone wanted to alter their harness (say switch from a 5 wire MAF/IAT to a 3 Wire MAF/2 wire IAT) it would be helpful. Or (like me) replace broken connectors.

I was surprised there wasn't a little more interest, tho.

Oh well. Now I know where to find it later! lol

The two connectors above are tps and pressure. The top one uses gt150 terminals,
and the bottom one uses 150 pull to seat terminals. Both will work. Steve

Thanks, Steve. That was why I had a hard time finding the correct connector, because I was searching for the plug based on the wrong terminal type. If you see anything else that needs to be edited, let me know. I'd appreciate it.

While I was searching for something else, I found a link to a Delphi connector catalog!

https://www.reynoldsonline.com/ASSET...4580L_Broc.pdf

Might be helpful for the Gen IV stuff?

Good stuff. Surprising how long it takes to track down all that info isnt it?. Fair warning on the GEN IV ECM connectors. Pay VERY close attention to key ways and how the connector is clocked. Really sucks to drop $25+ on a connector thats 180* out or has needed pins blocked off. That connector family has a LOT of PNs to sort through and the image doesnt always match the product youll receive

Most of the old 150 pull to seat connectors like shown above have a GT 150 counterpart. Although more expensive when adding body, terminals, seals and the special crimper for the seal tangs, changing from pull to push to seat really makes assembly easy. Even better if you goof on a pinout. Repin vs cut and crimp new terminals. The old ones are a PITA to depin. Reason I use almost exclusively GT instead of the older pull to seat

Catalogs like you posted are great for common connectors. If you're rewiring a chassis and need a host of inline connectors, go for it. Its a little more tricky to hunt down device connectors. Try to find an AC pressure switch (R4 compressor) connector, or a mate for a cam sensor connector (timing cover extension or MAF conversion). You definitely should bookmark the page, but dont count on it as a one stop shop for all your PNs

I also found it annoying that GM switched from all delphi electronics with everything from the 70's up to GEN III to a mismatch of the lowest bidder for GEN IV and newer. Some stuff you simply wont find in the delphi line up at all. Most recently I had to import a connector from spain because there wasnt a supplier in the country

Good info. Thanks. I only have a Gen 3 LQ4, and I don't plan on buying a Gen 4 harness just to get info on the connectors. lol.

Most of the original post was inspired by your connector post on thirdgen.org while I was looking for something else. Thanks for that. You posted a lot of worthwhile info on swap harnesses and it is greatly appreciated.

FWIW, a lot of the Gen IV connectors are made by Molex.

Just been searching around, and Ballenger Motorsports seems to have pretty good pricing on the connectors, pigtails and terminals.
Their website is bmotorsports.com.

This is excellent info Jay, thank you for posting it up in 1 place! While making my gen 3 harness for my 92 s10 i got to know all the different connectors and terminals from the Packard Electric to Delphi stuff. Funny, a few weeks ago i was wiring up some stuff on my buddues '13 Ford pickup and needed some terminals. Found out that they were the same a the gen 4 Bosch e38. Had a hard time locating them tho . I have about 8 different crimpers for this stuff too!.

Thanks, I kinda wish they would sticky it so I don't have to search every time I want to reference or add to it.
I'm looking for the in tank connector for the fuel pump (body and pins). Planning to order some PTFE coated wire
for my fuel pump relay harness and would like to be able to have 0 splices inside the tank.

Anybody got anything?

Because that doesn't help anyone else, and I have it on my computer. I just need to move it to the new computer.
But I'll do that for when I find more info.

I have tons of threads bookmarked. Almost none are stickeys on their respective forums. It takes me a second to look in my bookmarks and find what I'm looking for.
