Bulkhead wires: 1978 Caprice When installing an LS into a 1978 Caprice: I obviously know I need to keep the original wires to the headlights and windshield wiper motor, blower motor etc. I believe that the fusebox and chassis were powered by a wire that came from the battery, to the starter, and then from the starter into the bulkhead at the firewall to power the cars fusebox. Am I correct that the only wire I need to keep here is the power wire that goes from the starter to the fusebox? This would mean I could eliminate the other starer wires, the alternator wire and all the distributor wires.

I would keep the big purple wire going to the starter, you can hook that back up to the LS starter, then use the wire that originally went to the HEI to power up the ignition relay in the new engine harness.
