Default All that's needed for a fuel pump: Walbro 225

I am going to be installed a 2004 Avalanche 5.3/4L60E in a 1978 Caprice. All stock motor, no power mods. According to the advice on this site, I'll be dropping a Walbro 225 pump into a stock 1995 Caprice gas tank which I purchased. I've been told this pump will work best for my application, even if later down the road I add a little bit of power (nothing over 350-400 @ crank)

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but this is new stuff to me. What all parts will I need to order with the pump in order to make this work (besides the fuel lines). Is there a kit that would have everything I need all in one? I'm unable to tell which kits have everything and which kits might lack something. For example: this kit seems to have everything to make the pump work:https://www.summitracing.com/parts/v...58-2/overview/

What I am picture is that the tank has an assembly inside it. The pump is housed inside the assembly, so I pull the pump out and replace it with the walbro unit. It looks like the sending unit is also housed in the assembly, but it's a separate unit. So that would mean I would have to buy a sending unit for a 1995 Caprice and install that in the assembly as well. Is this correct?

Thanks,
Brandon

If the 78 Caprice came with a carb (pretty sure) then the set up in the tank is going to need to be modded to work with efi. You'll need both supply and return lines from the tank and some sort of "sump" for the fuel pickup to pull fuel from. In the efi system, the pump circulates fuel all the time -- the regulator bypasses enough fuel to keep the fuel pressure at its preset point for that motor/ecu. Hence the need for the 'return' line.

He got a '95 Caprice tank, but don't know what all came with it. He might have the stuff he needs.

oops - missed it. Should have supply/return/sump - just a matter of pulling out the assembly and fabbing whatever's necessary to hang the new Walbro. On mine (Deatschwerks instead of Walbro) the new pump replaced the OEM unit with just a bit of clearancing the plastic bracket that held the oem unit.

So is the sending unit considered the entire housing that the fuel pump sits in? Since this tank has been sitting dry for a while in a junkyard (under the car it came out of) I'd like to get a new sending unit.

Check this thread, sounds like that guy might be in the same boat you are. Maybe you can work with him and figure out a solution!
