9 years later... the LS2 runs.
Been a while since I've been around... I'm sorta back to playing with cars after getting distracted for a while. I've got to go back to distraction soon, but I wanted to spend a while playing with my car stuff again. In about 2010 I had to drop the car stuff.
Started building a little engine cart back at the beginning of June. Had a bunch of 2" tube out in the shop, some big casters I got for free, and some scrap bits here and there. So I stuck it all together and built a cart for my LS2. I probably spent as much time looking through boxes for parts as I did fabricating. My shop changed over the 9 years, and stuff got moved around. I found GTO parts in boxes I didn't think had GTO parts in them. That's how bad it was.
Anyhow, I decided to put the motor & wiring harness back to stock form and just get it running. Hopefully one of these days I'll get back to work on the 79Z and drop it in there. At least with this running engine stand, I can check out the oil pan when I replace it (I have an F-body pan), change the front accessory drive (going to buy Holley brackets), and, well, when I decide to get the APS system back up and running again (it's missing a couple of minor pieces).
This was a fun little side project. The cart will also be used when I drop the front crossmember/motor out of my 94Z. Need to do that some day also.
That's a sweet stand and set up for running the LS2. Look forward to seeing more updates etc.
It took 14 years to get my 91 RS LS swapped & restored. Sometimes life just interrupts projects at various stages.
Or this one, as I was mocking things up during the build process...

I really want to keep going, but other things are calling my name... Maybe later this fall / winter...
