Default 2004 5.3 - Where to hook up brake booster

Hello all,

On a 2004 5.3, where would I hook up the vacuum for the brake booster. I'm putting the engine in a 1978 Caprice.

Thanks,
Brandon

There should be a large vacuum port in the top of the intake somewhere. Hook it up there using a vacuum hose that does not crush easily.

If your engine came out of a truck with hydroboost, there will be a plug at the left rear of the intake manifold, you will need to remove it and put in a nipple for the power brake booster hose. To remove it, pull out on the black plug while pushing in on the red retainer part.

Rear driver side of intake manifold near oil psi sensor. This hooks directly to booster for vaccum.

Has anyone ever had any issues with these leaking vacuum or boost?

Ah, OK, I see. I wondered what that funny looking thing on the back was. I thought the plug was a fitting.
